TRIP LEADER – RESTRICTED QUALIFICATION PROCESS
RIVER GUIDE:
Once a River Guide course has been done, another 30 days of logged guiding experience is required to get a 50-day total before a Trip Leader Workshop can be attempted. Evaluation and assessment takes place during the course

Compile SOP document for overnight or multi-day trip of choice
Complete Trip Leader workbook
Level 3 First Aid ,upgrade First Aid to Level 3 if necessary
Logged days to a total of 50 (on 3 different class 3+ rivers and must include 10 overnight trips)

– Qualified to lead guide team in all crafts and on all rivers up to and including grade 3. Trip Leader – Restricted

– Upgrade First Aid to Level 3

WHAT YOU WILL GET!
– Course Notes

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING!
– Please bring a pen/pencil and notebook, S.O.P. of the operation/river that you work on.
– A copy of your ID (if renewing APA membership), current APA membership card/proof.
– Personal kit (see below)
– Food

PERSONAL KIT LIST:
– Sleeping bag, roll mat and tent.
– Warm clothes for evening
– Mess kit (plate, knife, fork, spoon, mug)
– Dry bag or bucket
– All guiding equipment – Wetsuit, dry jacket, guide PFD, whistle, 2 prussic’s, tapes, knife, 3 carabiners, min 20m Throwbag, first-aid mouthpiece and gloves and croc or kayak equipment – buoyancy bags, dry bag/barrel, helmet, paddle, splashy etc. Contact us if you need to buy or hire anything.
– ( Optional ) Operator kit – Pulley’s, ropes, abseiling gear, harnesses etc.
– Own accommodation and food
Duration:
– The course will span 3 full days and 2 nights. The course will begin on the first day at 8:00 and finish on the final day at 17:00.
Venue:
The venue may vary according to demand. Enquiries about running a course in your area are welcome, but the Standard course is offered on the Ash River near Clarens or on the Vaal at High Water

Payment policy –
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the course fee will be required to confirm your booking. This is essential to secure your place. Use your name as payment reference
